Poetry Above the Crypt at St Mary Islington: Poetry Reading and Book Launch

Everyone is warmly invited to celebrate the launch of IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS by Michael Bartholomew-Biggs (Shoestring Press, Nottingham, 2024). Free entry and refreshments.

Guest poets: Katy Evans-Bush and Robert Seatter

Music: Singer-songwriter WomanAngel

Michael Bartholomew-Biggs is a retired mathematician and current poetry editor of the online magazine London Grip. He lives in Islington and co-organises Poetry Above the Crypt.

IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS, Mike’s 6th full collection, looks at life-changing events of a personal nature – broken legs, heart transplants, bereavements – and also at larger scale upheavals like invasions, liberations or revolutions.

Such happenings may be preceded by warnings that go unheeded; and IDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS reflects this regrettable human tendency to ignore well-founded predictions by framing the poems as a sequence of contemporary responses to verses from the Biblical prophet Ezekiel.

Free entry. Donations welcome to Hospice Care Kenya.
