St Mary’s Bulb Sunday

On Sunday 29 October St Mary’s celebrated it’s first Bulb Sunday with the planting of almost 1000 spring bulbs in the North Gardens of St Mary’s churchyard.

The North Gardens were reorganised as part of St Mary’s Heart of Islington project and are well used by the local community and visitors to St Mary’s as a place to gather and find peace. We are looking forward to the spring bulbs adding to the beauty of the churchyard and helping visitors to the church know the beauty of God in creation. The bulbs were planted as part of St Mary’s commitment to care for creation, and our drive to become a gold Eco Church.

Eco Church is an initiative setup by A Rocha UK for churches in England and Wales that want to who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth. St Mary’s is already a Silver Eco Church and we hope to soon be a Gold Eco Church.
