St Mary’s ringers ring a Quarter Peal

A band of eight bellringers from St Mary’s and Islington successfully rang a quarter peal of Plain Bob Triples on Sunday 16 June to celebrate the bellringing career of Deborah Bolton. A quarter peal is about 50 minutes of continuous change ringing.

Deborah learned to ring at nearby St Mary Magdalene church on Holloway Road in the early 2000s when the bells at Upper Street were being restored. Our bells were restored and rededicated in 2004 and Deborah has been an active member of the bellringing community locally for over twenty years. She rang at least two quarter peals here at St Mary’s and supported our tower and ringing community. Thank you Deborah for your service to the bellringing community here at St Mary’s and in Islington. If you are interested in learning to ring the bells at St Mary’s, contact the church office to find out how to get involved.

You can view our quarter peal on Bellboard.
