Safeguarding

We are committed to protecting the welfare of children and all vulnerable adults.

Churches should be safe places for everyone. However, some people may be more vulnerable than others and we need to pay particular attention to those people.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding, we have robust systems in place to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm.

This responsibility is shared by each member of the community, as policies and procedures, whilst essential, cannot alone protect children and adults who are at risk.

All members of the community need to be aware of potential risks to children, young people and vulnerable adults and know what action to take should they have concerns.

We are committed to following government and Church of England guidelines on safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, and good working practice, including safe recruitment of workers. The PCC has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding

If you have any concerns regarding the safety or welfare of a child or a vulnerable adult, you can speak to our Safeguarding Officer: Katy Haynes. She can be contacted through the church office on 0207 226 3400 or safeguarding@stmaryislington.org
