Eco tip: save water

Save water

Don’t leave the tap running when washing up or brushing your teeth.  If it takes time for a tap to run hot, keep a bucket to catch the cold run-off: use it for watering plants or flushing the toilet.  For a large cistern, get a Thames Water gadget to reduce it, or try a brick in the cistern.  Or flush less often; a ditty heard in the US years ago: ‘if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown flush it down’.  Saving water also saves energy: all city water has to be pumped.
