This week's eco tip from St Mary's: Recycling aluminium

An early example of recycling was when housewives all over the UK gave up their treasured aluminium cooking pans to convert into airplanes during World War II.

It is still crucially important to recycle aluminium. Making aluminium from its ore, bauxite, takes 20 times as much energy as recovering it from household recycling.

So start thinking now about how you can recycle all those drink cans, kitchen foil (cleaned), milk bottle tops, and chocolate wrappers at Christmas this year.
