Chamberlain Ofosu:

Chamberlain is a 15-year-old student at The Judd School in Tonbridge. Born in Islington, his family moved to Kent when he was around 4 years old. He still maintains strong ties with the Islington area with regular visits to his grandparents and football matches.

His first encounter with the piano was around age 6 and he has since excelled over the years, including achieving Distinction in his ABRSM grade 8 examinations. His love for the piano and fascination with the many interesting sounds and versatility of the organ led him to audition for, and win, an organ scholarship at The Judd School. He has been learning the organ under the scheme for the past three years. Chamberlain is ever so thankful to his extremely supportive and excellent teachers Gillian Oldridge (organ) and Nicola Scaife (piano).

He took the role of organ scholar at the Holy Trinity Church (Folkstone) about a year ago, under Tim Parsons (Director of Music), where he plays in main services and evensong. He has taken part in the Creative Oundle for Young Organists residential course and also had the privilege of organ masterclasses with Daniel Moult (Royal Birmingham Conservatoire), Jamie Rogers (Canterbury Cathedral) and Julian Haggett (Royal College of Organists). His enthusiasm for the organ reflects in the opportunities he has had to play various organs including notable venues across UK; Canterbury Cathedral, St Patrick’s Cathedral of Northern Ireland, Central Methodist Church (Westminster), St Michael’s Cornhill (London), St Clement Danes (London), Trinity and Trinity Hall Colleges Cambridge and Merton College Oxford.

Chamberlain has enjoyed recent success in organ competitions including; first prize in the Bristol Organ competition 2024 (under 18s); second price in the London Organ Club competition 2024 (under 17s); third prize in the Northern Ireland International Organ competition 2024 (Intermediate category); and commendation in the School Organists’ Association Organ competition at Merton College Oxford 2024 (Advanced category).

He also enjoys playing the cello in The Judd School’s strings and symphony orchestras.

Aside from his strengths in mathematics, music, and science disciplines, including various mathematics challenges and competitions, he competes in track and field for Ashford Athletics Club and regularly takes part in go-kart racing.
